he project is implemented in 9 National Nature Parks of the Carpathian Mountains, located in the growth area of old-growth and primeval forests: Carpathian, "Verkhovynsky", "Cheremosky", "Vyzhnytsky", Uzhansky, "Skolivski Beskydy", "Synevyr", "Hutsulshchyna", "Zacharovany kraj".
Selection of project sites was based on the analysis of fulfilled questionnaires and cartographic material provided by national nature parks of Ukrainian Carpathians. A key principle of the selection of Parks for the project was the presence of old-growth and primeval forests in the area of NNPs.

T

he Project implementation area in the Uzhansky National Nature Park comprises a total area of Park of 39159,3 ha.
Its highest nature conservation value is a large area of old-growth and primeval forests – in total of 3737.3 ha. This territory is a part of the International Biosphere Reserve "Eastern Carpathians", which includes regional landscape park "Nadsyansky" in Ukraine, National Park "Poloniny” on Slovak Republic territory, Bieszczady National Park and regional landscape parks “Valley of Sian” and "Tsisnyansko-Vetlinsky” in Poland.

he Project implementation area of the zone of National Nature Park “Cheremosky” constitute lands of NNP of 7117.5 ha and forest lands bordering the Park on the area within 15795 ha proposed for the extension of NNP.
Key conservation value of the Project area is availability of old-growth and primeval forests.

T

he Project implementation areas within the National Nature Park «Skolivski Beskydy» constitute lands of NNP total area of 35259 ha.
Its nature conservation priority is old-growth and primeval forests, in particular conserved fragments of beech primeval forests; 40 vascular plant species listed in the Red Data Book of Ukraine (2009); rich fauna of vertebrates (244 species); reacclimatized European bison (Bison bonasus).

P

roject implementation zone at the National Nature Park "Synevyr" constitute lands of NNP itself of total areas of 42704 ha and forested lands bordering the Park on 1165 ha and proposed for the extension of the Park.
Key conservation value of the Project implementation area is existing old-growth and primeval forests.

he Project implementation area within the National Nature Park "Zacharovany Kraj" constitute lands of the Park of total area of 6101 ha and forested lands bordering the Park on the area of 12300 ha proposed for extension of the Park.
Priority nature conservation value of the Project area is preserved fragments of old-growth and primeval forests.

he area of the Project’s activity within the National Nature Park "Hutsulshchyna" constitutes part of the territory of Park of 32271 ha.
Nature conservation priority of the project area is conserved fragments of spruce and beech old-growth and primeval forests and natural beech forests with admixture of fir and sycamore.

he area of the Project activity within Vyzhnytsky National Nature Park comprises of a total area of the Park (11238 ha) and forested lands bordering the Park on an area of 9110.9 ha proposed for extension of Park.
Priority nature conservation value of the Project area is old-growth and primeval forests growing within the Park territory and adjacent lands proposed for the extension.

he area of the Project’s activity within the Verkhovynsky National Nature Park consists of the national park territory itself (12,022.9 ha) and lands bordering the Park in the area of 11688.8 ha, and are proposed for the park extension.
Priority nature conservation value of the project is the remained fragments of old-growth forests and primeval forests.

T

he Project implementation area within the Carpathian National Nature Park constitute lands of NNP of 50303 ha and lands bordering the Park on the area of 24395 ha proposed for the extension of the Park.
The main conservation value of the Project activity area is preserved old-growth and primeval forests.
